TFN Media Selects Enablence Technologies for FTTB Deployment in All its Service Areas in Taiwan

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA--(Marketwire - July 2, 2008) - Enablence Technologies (TSX VENTURE:ENA), ("Enablence" or the "Corporation") a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) equipment for triple-play residential and business services, announced today the selection by TFN Media of Enablence's Trident7™ Universal Access Platform for its new fiber-to-the-business (FTTB) networks in all CATV service areas in Taiwan. TFN Media is one of the subsidiary companies of Taiwan Mobile (TWM), the largest private telecommunications service provider in Taiwan of both fixed and mobile networks.

This deployment extends TFN Media's existing residential video services by upgrading existing copper plant to PON ("Passive Optical Network") fiber, and adding high-speed data services to their existing CATV customers. Previously, TFN Media has been offering DOCSIS cable-modem based residential Internet access services.

The launch of FTTB initially targets 3,000 to 4,000 apartment buildings over a three-year timeframe. To further broaden its PON fiber access network, TFN Media is also planning a FTTP rollout for new building construction, which will utilize Enablence's Trident7 ONTs ("Optical Network Terminals") designed for single family and multiple dwelling unit applications.

TFN Media selected Enablence's Trident7 Compact OLT (COLT) configured for the IEEE 802.3 GE-PON (EFM PON) standard. Trident7 interoperates seamlessly with the TFN Media's Ethernet-over-Cable solution. "We put the Trident7 platform through an extensive field trial and we were very satisfied with the performance results," said James Jeng, President of TFN Media. "The Trident7 platform's element management system was easily integrated with VoIP, data, and RF video solutions. Amongst the group of systems being trialed, the Trident7 system demonstrated the best performance, stability, and ease of service provisioning. In the future, we hope to benefit from innovations including the integration of Enablence's advanced PLC transceivers into their ONTs."

Arvind Chhatbar, CEO of Enablence, stated, "Working with TFN Media and our system-integration partner Chang Bao Industrial Co. is a great international opportunity for Enablence. We are very excited to grow our presence in the Asia-Pacific region and to continue our efforts to provide a product with superior flexibility in this market""

The Trident7 platform is the only optical access platform on the market capable of supporting IEEE 802.3 GE-PON (EFM PON), ITU G.984 GPON, and IEEE 802.3 Point-to-Point networks from a common platform. Trident7 products began shipping to customers in the second half of 2006, and the platform is already deployed by over 50 customers in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
