Thanksgiving Comes Early as Chick-fil-A Celebrates Restaurant Grand Opening in Chandler on Nov. 17

First 100 Adults in Line at New Restaurant Will Win Free Chick-fil-A for a Year

PHOENIX, AZ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 16, 2005 -- Metro Phoenix residents will have another reason to give thanks as Chick-fil-A opens a new free-standing restaurant in Chandler on Nov. 17, when the first 100 adults in line at the new location by 6 a.m. that day will receive a year's worth of free Chick-fil-A meals.

"Since we started the First 100 promotion in Goodyear more than two years ago, Chick-fil-A has given away more than $200,000 worth of free food in the Phoenix area as we've celebrated the opening of eight new restaurants in the state," said Greg Harjo, operator of the new Chandler restaurant at 2900 E. Germann Rd., Chandler.

The first 100 adults in line at the restaurant by 6 a.m. on Nov. 17 will each receive a free year's supply of Chick-fil-A combo meals (52 coupons). Participants must be 18 years and older and can line up as early as 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, with the prizes being awarded on Thursday between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. The restaurant will officially open for business at 6:30 a.m.

Chick-fil-A launched its aggressive expansion into the state in October 2003, opening its first free-standing restaurant in Arizona in Goodyear after having only mall locations for many years. The growth has continued with free-standing restaurants opening in Scottsdale, Gilbert, Surprise, Peoria and Mesa.

Chick-fil-A's First 100 Fans promotion began in Goodyear, where company officials were flattered and surprised when Chick-fil-A raving fans began showing up more than 12 hours before the opening to ensure their place in line. The event was such a success that it was immediately implemented at every Chick-fil-A grand opening across the country. Almost $3 million in free Chick-fil-A has been given away since the promotion began.

Harjo and his wife, Mindy, previously worked at Chick-fil-A's corporate office in Atlanta before moving to Chandler to operate the new restaurant. "We are very excited to be part of the growing Chick-fil-A family in Arizona," Harjo said. "We know our customers in Chandler are looking forward to this grand opening as much as we are."

The new restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. The breakfast menu includes the popular chicken biscuit along with an expanded lineup which debuted in June featuring the quick-service industry's first premium coffee blends, three custom-roasted Café Blends Coffees, and its new Chick-fil-A Cinnamon Cluster, fresh-baked mini swirls filled with sweet cinnamon served warm with a creamy vanilla icing.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is the nation's second-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain with more than 1,235 restaurants in 38 states and Washington D.C. The chain expects to build more than 77 locations this year, including 60 free-standing units. For more information, visit or
