The 11th annual Anges financiers de Montreal Gala

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 29, 2007) - The 11th Annual Anges financiers de Montreal Gala, held last night, brought together approximately 200 businesspeople to discover the twenty promising young entrepreneurs who were chosen as finalists for this year's Anges financiers Contest. The winners of the contest were officially announced and awarded grants worth a total of $27,500.

With Charles Guay, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank Securities and Altamira Investment Services, presiding over the contest, this event is aimed at helping Quebec-based entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40 to connect with potential investors and help establish their companies within the marketplace.

Presented by Canada Economic Development, this event was organized conjointly by the Fondation du maire de Montreal pour la jeunesse (fmmj) and the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montreal (JCCM).

The winning companies in each of the categories were:

Growing business (winner of a $10,000 grant offered by Canada Economic Development)

Alexandre Pelletier, President and Founder of Emovendo

Emovendo is a leader in Relationship Marketing Technologies, particularly for Online Customer Acquisition. Its innovative approach combines the analysis of behavioural and nominal data points with a savvy understanding of today's challenges.

Start-up (winner of a $5000 grant offered by Samson Belair/Deloitte & Touche)

Louis-Philippe Cloutier, Executive Vice-President of Servivap Canada

Servivap Canada manufactures and distributes industrial water-treatment products for vapour-generating boilers and cooling systems. Their exclusive, biodegradable products allow the reduction of blowdown by at least 50% and generate savings on energy costs of up to 15% without investment.

Jury's Choice (winner of a $5000 grant offered by Sun Life Financial)

Stephane Gendron, President of MatriX Evolutions

MatriX Evolutions is a company that has developed a state-of-the-art machine in the roofing industry: "The Shingles Peeler". This revolutionary machine not only simultaneously tears off shingles & nails without any physical effort, but also saves time and money.

Innovation Grant (winner of a $2500 grant offered by Smart & Biggar)

Yves Martin, President and Co-Founder of Pakwa Technologies

Pakwa Technologies develops medical diagnostic kits to evaluate, from whole blood samples, the platelet activation levels of individuals at risk of developing cardiovascular problems. These products are designed to allow clinicians to assess the effectiveness of anti-platelet therapies.

Honorary President Grant (winner of a $2500 grant offered by National Bank)

Frederik Cote, President of Proximo Systems

Proximo Systems is leading the way towards a new and more personalized approach to communications for enterprises and carriers. Our flagship product, XVP, was designed from the ground up, as a scalable telephony solution for Web Portal ISPs and/or Voice and Data Carriers.

About the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montreal (JCCM)

The JCCM comprises a group of young professionals, entrepreneurs and self-employed workers aged between the ages 18 and 40. Founded in 1931 and composed of more than 1,400 members with an average age of 31 years old, the JCCM acts as the principal voice for young businesspeople in Montreal.
