The 155th Western Nova Scotia Exhibition Is on Its Way

YARMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - May 12, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage
Yarmouth residents and visitors will be delighted with yet another edition of the Western Nova Scotia Exhibition, which celebrates its 155^th anniversary this year.

The Government of Canada has provided $8,800 in funding through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program to the Yarmouth County Agricultural Society.

Greg Kerr, Member of Parliament (West Nova), made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

This funding will allow the Society, an organization that promotes arts and heritage in the community, to present the 155^th edition of the Western Nova Scotia Exhibition from July 29 to August 2, 2014.

• The first Agricultural Exhibition in Yarmouth was held in 1859.
  
  
• The present site of the exhibition was purchased in 1946.
  
  
• This year, more than 140 local artists, artisans, and heritage performers are expected to be part of the Western Nova Scotia Exhibition in Yarmouth County. Activities include musical and dance performances, artisan demonstrations, art exhibitions, and local history talks.
