The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking™ Named Finalist in 57th Annual Neal Awards

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - February 16, 2011) - American Business Media (ABM) has named the editorial staff of American Banker and U.S. Banker's The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking as finalists in the 57th Annual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards Competition.

American Banker and U.S. Banker are SourceMedia brands serving professionals in commercial and community banking. ABM is a professional association, founded in 1906, that focuses on the integrated business-to-business media model.

The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking was named a Neal Award finalist in the category of "Best Integrated Package," which honors a cross-platform content package that provides integrated coverage of a single story, topic, or theme, and having three or more distinct elements.

"This underscores the importance of our mission to recognize power, business savvy, creativity and performance among women in financial services," said Rebecca Sausner, editor at large of U.S. Banker. "We owe the success of this franchise to the high level of participation in the program by financial industry professionals -- and, most critically, to the passion of the women who have gotten involved."

Other staff named in the entry include Alan Kline, editor in chief, U.S. Banker and Barbara Rehm, editor at large, American Banker; as well as program manager Julie Dienes, online editor Christopher Wood; video editor Matt Bleistein, and creative director Andrew Lathrop.

"To be in the running for Best Integrated Package is extremely gratifying," said David Longobardi, SourceMedia's executive vice president and chief content officer, "because it emphasizes one of SourceMedia's primary strengths: The truly diverse portfolio of media capabilities it is able to deliver."

The Best Integrated Package entry for The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking highlighted the following program elements:

  • The 25MPWIB second-generation website
  • The Inner Circle, an online professional networking community affiliated with the program
  • The Mentor Factor career development forums for rising women in the financial services industry.
  • The National Leadership Workshop, a half-day professional development workshop for ranked women and other senior executive women at their firms
  • The Advisory Council, a group of approximately one dozen women from the prior-year's ranking
  • The Wine Tasting and Celebration Dinner honoring each year's honorees

The Neal Awards Committee judged the submissions based on the quality of the content as well as the quality, clarity, and effectiveness of the integration. The winners will be announced at the Neal Awards Luncheon on March 10 at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City.
