The 3 W's of Public Speaking and the Importance of Corporate Identity

C-Suite TV Talks to Executive Speech Coach, Mikki Williams and the President of Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), Doug Albregts

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 14, 2016) - Executive Perspectives, one of the top online business shows on C-Suite TV, has announced their upcoming episodes for January. Kicking off the new year, Executive Perspectives will feature interviews with Certified Public Speaker (CSP) Mikki Williams, who talks about teaching c-suite leaders how to become better public speakers and being more relatable to their audience and Doug Albregts, president of Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, talking about the importance of having a healthy identity and culture and the steps Sharp implemented on their way to "irresistible."

Executive speech coach Mikki Williams talks about teaching c-suite executives how to become more effective public speakers. She argues that c-suite executives need to change the way they speak to their audience by becoming more relatable and authentic. Williams stresses, "don't show up with your title, show up as a person" so your message will be better received. She says the simplest way to start is with the "3 W's -- walk in, wait and the WOW." You need to make an entrance of some kind, wait to get the audience's attention, and just start with something that WOWs the audience, not just a standard welcome. She believes that vulnerability can be a speaker's greatest asset as "real learning takes place heart to heart not head to head." Williams wants speakers to be great and get their message across using that same vulnerability and somehow this gets lost in translation in the c-suite.

Doug Albregts realizes he's in an "old, stodgy industry," yet he has found ways to make it innovative and take the B2B side of Sharp to the next level. He first joined the company in 2011 and soon realized that changed needed to be made, mainly at changing the company culture by defining their identity. He says, "If you don't have an identity, you don't have a culture." Albregts realized that in order to move the company forward, they had to become "irresistible" -- which he describes as a certain "stickiness" that makes is difficult for people to move away from a brand. They would achieve that 'irresistibility' by doing the following three things: 1) change the culture, 2) improve working capital, and 3) get away from things that were not part of their core business.

Albregts also stresses the importance of effective communication with your employees, as they need to buy into the entire philosophy; otherwise, your customers aren't going to buy in either.
