The 86th Novena at Saint Joseph's Oratory Begins!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 8, 2007) - From March 10 to 18, thousands of pilgrims will congregate at Saint Joseph's Oratory to celebrate the novena dedicated to Saint Joseph, under the theme "His mercy is approaching" in the company of Marcel Demers, Priest for Saint Sulpice.

The faithful from Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, several American states, Latin America and Europe are coming to the shrine in pilgrimage for the occasion. More than 3,500 groups (parishes, educational centres, movements and associations) have received some 25,000 novena leaflets. According to the Rector of the Oratory, Father Claude Grou, CSC, "These nine days of prayer and gathering are a high point of the year at Saint Joseph's Oratory. People from all walks of life converge on Mount Royal to celebrate their faith and confidentially share with Saint Joseph their joys, sufferings, and concerns." Visitor and Pilgrim Services has already registered more than 200 groups that are planning to visit during the nine days and the Feast of Saint Joseph. For information, reservations or leaflet requests, please call: 514 733-8211, extension 2793. The special novena issue of The Oratory magazine is online at www.saint-joseph.org.
