The Angus Cattle Run Ready to Hit the Streets in Support of the Calgary Food Bank


CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - July 10, 2013) - A brand new Stampede fun run is set to hit the streets this Friday morning, a fundraising event for the Calgary Food Bank as part of their annual Stampede campaign, Put the Boots to Hunger. The need for food and funds is even more critical considering the recent and unprecedented floods in our community. And the need will continue and even grow in the coming weeks, even months.

What: First annual Angus Cattle Run

Why: A fundraising event for the Calgary Food Bank as part of their annual Stampede campaign, Put the Boots to Hunger.

Funds raised support the Calgary Food Bank Children's Milk Program which provides additional milk and baby formula to women and children in low-income households.

The Angus Cattle Run is a summer version of the popular winter run, Amble for Angus which since its inception 10 years ago, has raised over $180,000 for the Children's Milk Program.

In 2012, more than 65,000 litres of milk and 3,000 containers of formula were delivered to 1,800 homes in Calgary.

Amble for Angus and the Angus Cattle Run's event founder and organizer, Angus Cowan, was recently inducted into the Calgary Marathon Society Hall of Fame for outstanding contribution to the running community.
