The Apache Software Foundation to Hold Eighth ApacheCon Conference in San Diego

FOREST HILLS, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 21, 2005 -- The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) has announced that ApacheCon US 2005 will be held on December 10-14 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina in San Diego, California.

The official conference of the Apache Software Foundation -- stewards, incubators, and developers of leading Open Source projects, including Apache HTTPd, the world's most popular Web server software -- ApacheCon offers the Open Source community a unique opportunity to glean real world insight, techniques, and methodologies pivotal to the increasing demand for key Apache software. ApacheCon brings together attendees, ASF Members, developers, and contributors to participate in one of the industry's leading-edge forums, with excellent networking opportunities and peer discussions in a relaxed, hands-on environment.

In response to the increasing -- and hotly debated -- demand for, and the use of, non-proprietary technologies on a global scale, ApacheCon returns to Europe this summer July 18-22 in Stuttgart, Germany. Topics addressed include Scalable Internet Architectures, Web Services, PHP, mod_perl, Apache HTTPd, Java, XML, and Subversion, SpamAssassin, and WebDAV. Visit http://apachecon.com/2005/EU/ to register online.

"We are pleased to bring ApacheCon back to Europe for the first time in five years, restoring the truly global nature of the conference and expo," said ApacheCon chairman, Ken Coar. "We are proud to give those involved with Open Source projects a chance to connect with delegates, presenters, and friends through informative sessions, lively discussions, and opportunities to glean first-hand expertise on topics of international importance."

The ASF also announced the appointment of Full Circle Productions to manage ApacheCon US 2005. "Teaming up with Full Circle Productions allows us to continue expanding the creative summit for Open Source developers, programmers, and implementers," added Coar. "It's a great way for the ASF to maintain its presence and build strong partnerships all around the world."

The Java Community Process (JCP) returns to ApacheCon as a Silver-level sponsor, and plans to hold its Executive Committee meetings during the conference. Select exhibitor and premier-level sponsorship opportunities are available; contact Delia Frees on +1 707 765 0823 or at delia@apachecon.com for more information.

According to Full Circle Productions co-founder Charel Morris, "We are thrilled to work with the Apache Software Foundation in gathering the top creative minds in Open Source development. By actively encouraging and recognizing new innovation and talent, ApacheCon is one more way the ASF gives back to the industry."
