'The Book of Mormon' Dethrones Justin Bieber in Top Event Rankings

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT--(Marketwire - Aug 7, 2012) - After two consecutive months at No. 1 in TicketNews®' Monthly Top Events rankings, pop superstar Justin Bieber was knocked out of the top spot by Broadway favorite "The Book of Mormon" for the month, as compiled from July 1-31, 2012.

The Tony Award-winning musical has been a fixture at the top of the rankings since the show's inception in March of 2011. This month, the show broke the house record at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre for sales in a week for the 37th time, raking in more than $1.6 million during the week of July 2-8. August will be another exciting month for the production, as the national tour kicks off on August 14 in Denver, CO.

"The Book of Mormon" was one of five theater shows that finished inside the Top 10, with "Wicked" (No. 2), "The Lion King" (No. 5), "Jersey Boys" (No. 9) and "Les Miserables" (No. 10) being the other four.
