The British Are Coming! And They're Bringing Fresh, Natural Food With Them

Pret A Manger Arrives in Boston With Two New Shops; Opens Fiftieth US Location in Boston's Back Bay Neighborhood

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Nov 15, 2012) - Pret A Manger, Britain's leading sandwich chain, today announced the opening of its first Boston area shop, at 185 Franklin St., in the city's Financial District. The restaurant's arrival in Boston marks the launch into its fourth US market; there are currently shops in New York, Chicago and Washington DC. The Franklin street shop will be opening its doors tomorrow, November 16, and a second Boston location, at 507 Boylston Street, will be opening on November 19. The Boylston location will be the chain's fiftieth US store.

Pret A Manger, born in London in 1986, has been devoted to delivering fresh, natural food to customers since its inception, a philosophy the chain brought to the US when it launched its first New York store in 2000. Every Pret shop is equipped with a kitchen, and all of Pret's sandwiches and salads are prepared daily, using local, natural ingredients. Pret A Manger food never sees "day two" on the shelves. Instead, the company partners with local charities to donate unsold food at the close of every business day. In Boston, Pret is partnering with The Boston Rescue Mission, an organization dedicated to aiding the homeless and under-privileged of greater Boston.

"Since the doors opened in our first shop, the principle that fresh, natural ingredients are both better tasting and better for you has been a basic tenet of the Pret philosophy," says Martin Bates, president of Pret A Manger US. "We are thrilled to be bringing that philosophy to the city of Boston. We couldn't think of a better backdrop to mark the milestone of our fiftieth US opening, and we look forward to delivering delicious, high-quality food to this great city."

"Pret A Manger is a terrific corporate citizen and we're delighted to welcome them to Boston," said Mayor Thomas M. Menino. "Their two stores will create jobs, provide a high quality natural food option, and help a shelter feed their clients -- a winning combination. I look forward to Pret A Manger thriving and growing in Boston."

Pret A Manger will be open during the hours of Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the Franklin St. shop and Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m and Sunday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m at the Boylston location. Both stores also offer catering services, allowing customers to enjoy the same high quality Pret food available in-store at their next office event.
