The Camden Group Launches Physician Coaching Service

EL SEGUNDO, CA--(Marketwire - August 13, 2007) - The Camden Group is expanding its consulting practice to coach physicians on their leadership and interpersonal skills.

This new Camden product, Care Relate, is offered to hospitals for their medical staff. "Care Relate is structured around individual assessments and one-on-one physician coaching with the goal of creating highly productive interactions with patients, staff, and other team members," said Steven T. Valentine, President of The Camden Group. Care Relate's initial focus is hospitalist and intensivist physicians because they experience a relatively large degree of patient interaction.

"A physician's success as a clinician and a leader is built upon effective communication skills," said Camden Group Vice President Steve Nahm. "Physicians are master clinicians; however, the data demonstrate that their interactions and communications with patients and staff are not at that same level."

As part of the coaching curriculum, Camden has developed a proprietary diagnostic tool that measures a physician's ability to relate with staff, patients and others in key areas. The results are used to interactively create with a physician an individual pathway for communication and interpersonal skills improvement.

"Care Relate will be a crucial part of the approach hospitals will use to assist their physicians as communicators and leaders," Valentine said.

With offices in Los Angeles and Chicago, The Camden Group has advised more than 1,000 hospitals, medical groups, and outpatient facilities in 43 states since its founding in 1970.
