The Career Foundation Presents R U DOWN WITH SKILLED TRADES, FEBRUARY 28, 2011

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 25, 2011) - The Career Foundation is proud to present, R U DOWN WITH SKILLED TRADES on February 28 2011 from 9am – 4pm at the Queen Elizabeth Building of Exhibition Place. The goal of the event is to promote the skilled trades as a viable pathway and post secondary option to youth.

The Trade Fair will provide over 2,500 students from 50 schools in the GTA, as well as "out of school youth," with an opportunity to discover the exciting opportunities available in over 50 different trades. Youth will "get down with the skilled trades" through interactive displays, simulators, large equipment displays and demonstrations, while encouraging them to explore their potential in the skilled trades.

Youth will also have an opportunity to hear about "a day in the life" of various trades people through short presentations offered throughout the day. This will include presentations by The Ontario Trucking Association Road Knights Team, Moxie Trades, George Brown College Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts and Boating Ontario (Careers in Boating).

A skills competition area will offer youth a chance to prove their skill-ability and teamwork. Organized by Skills Canada, youth will have an opportunity to build a geodome, create a tin foil boat, or construct a straw tower while competing for bragging rights and an opportunity to win a prize.

This event is the first of its kind in Toronto. The program is funded in part by the government of Canada's youth employment strategy.

All media representatives are invited to attend the opening at 9:00 a.m. and /or visit during the day. Youth will arrive by 10:00 a.m. If you would like more information about this event or want to arrange an interview, please call 647-519-5674 or email and/or
