The goal of the event is to promote the skilled trades as a viable pathway and post secondary option to youth. We have focused on marketing this opportunity to youth in priority neighbourhoods however all are welcome to attend.

The event will provide over 2,500 students from 50 schools in the GTA, as well as "out of school youth," with an opportunity to discover the exciting opportunities available in over 50 different trades. Youth will "get down with the skilled trades" through interactive displays, simulators, and demonstrations -- encouraging them to explore their potential in the skilled trades.

Youth will also have an opportunity to hear about "a day in the life" of various trades people through short presentations offered throughout the day. This will include presentations by Kelly Williams Female Race Car Driver and Auto Mechanic, The Ontario Trucking Association Road Knights Team, George Brown College Centre Industrial Trades Plumber and Pipefitter, Welder and other skills trade entrepreneurs such as a Horticulturalist and Landscaper, Jewelry Setter and even a Pyro Technician!

A skills competition will offer youth a chance to prove their skill-ability and teamwork. Youth will have an opportunity to build a geodome, create a tin foil boat, or construct a straw tower, and skillfully decorate cookies just like a pastry chef while competing for bragging rights and an opportunity to win a prize.
