The City of Montreal is Proud to Support Manuvie's International Dragon-Boat Festival

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - July 5, 2005) - The city of Montreal is proud to support Manuvie's International Dragon-Boat Festival, which is celebrating its 10th edition this year. The Festival will be held on July 30th and 31st at the Olympic pool at the Jean-Drapeau Park on Notre-Dame Island.

"This Festival, which will feature 180 teams from across Canada, the United States and elsewhere around the world, represents a major event for the Chinese community. It significantly contributes to Montreal's reputation by highlighting its rich diversity and spirit of openness. This is yet another reason why Montreal has become a must-see destination in North America," said Mr. Marcel Tremblay, associate councilor to the mayor and responsible for intercultural relations.

This year the city of Montreal is contributing $5,000 to the festival, which will be used to support the construction of a new boat as part of the Festival's 10th edition. This is Montreal's second financial contribution in two years.

"We feel it is important to support festivals that allow Montrealers to attend an array of different summer activities, which demonstrate the vitality and dynamism of our city," said Mr. Tremblay.
