The City of Pointe-Claire Revamps its Website!

POINTE-CLAIRE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 19, 2013) - The City of Pointe-Claire wishes to make it easier than ever to find information. The City's efforts to improve communications consist of many parts, including a brand new website, more user-friendly than the former one. "Our old website was outdated and we had to find a way to highlight all the services offered by the City," emphasized the Mayor of Pointe-Claire, Mr. Bill McMurchie.

The completely redesigned website contains all valuable information on City activities and services offered to the citizens and visitors in a simple and modern format. Internet users will be able to find the desired information rapidly. "The dissemination of information and news about our City is very important in the fast-paced world we live in today. The new website is the cornerstone of the efforts to improve the communications of the City," explained the City Manager of the City of Pointe-Claire, Mr. Nicolas Bouchard.

The new website includes interactive maps where City buildings, outdoor pools and schools can easily be located. Internet users will also be able to subscribe to City newsletters. Four newsletters - one for general information and three others for emergency messages, Stewart Hall Cultural Centre and Stewart Hall Art Gallery - will be available online. A calendar of events was also added to the website to gather together everything going on in Pointe-Claire, whether its sports or culture. In addition, the site features a more powerful search engine as well as a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section.

A video highlighting the City of Pointe-Claire is showcased on the homepage. The City wishes to add new videos throughout the year. Various topics, notably City information, will be addressed in these videos that can be shared easily on social media platforms.

Social media

The City takes its first steps in the world of social media. The official Twitter account of Pointe-Claire has been activated (@Pointe_Claire) The official Facebook page will follow. "We want to reach both young and not so young people and show them all the sports, cultural, and family activities that the City offers, and much more," said Mr. McMurchie, who also shared the City's first tweet at the website launch. The City of Pointe-Claire's account will be active during business hours and during special events. It will be used to promote events and achievements of the City.

Electronic billboard

An important step was taken in December 2012 when the electronic billboard was installed on Saint-Jean Boulevard. The billboard displays news, activities of various services, notably the Library and the Cultural Centre, as well as messages from partner organizations of the City of Pointe-Claire. An online form is available on the new website, allowing organizations to send their requests faster to the City.
