The Coffee Equipment Company Snags Top Industry Honors From the SCAA and SCAE

New Clover Brewer and CloverNet™ Management System Bring Home Leading Awards for Design Originality and Product Innovation, Respectively

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 24, 2007 -- Today the Coffee Equipment Company (CEC) is pleased to announce the receipt of two top industry awards from the American and European Specialty Coffee Associations. The first award was received in early May from the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) for the recently launched CloverNet™, a web-based communication and management tool for the Clover brewer. The SCAA awarded CloverNet the "Best New Product" in the Commercial Coffee or Tea Preparation & Serving Equipment category. Just weeks later, the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) handed their prestigious award for Originality in Design to CEC founders Zander Nosler and Randy Hulett for the design of the Clover brewer, which launched in 2006.

"Of course I'm thrilled!" exclaims Zander Nosler of CEC. "We're honored to be recognized by two of the world's most active and influential industry organizations, as well as so many of our hard-working peers. We're passionate about this industry and happy we've been able to contribute toward the creation of that perfect cup of coffee."

The "Coffee Excellence" awards were announced by the SCEA at their annual gala dinner on May 19. The SCEA presented six awards to people, organizations, associations and companies that promote coffee excellence. The awards and the gala were designed not only to reward the best-of-the-best, but to acknowledge those who have the courage, imagination, or special "something" that enabled them to excel in the search for coffee excellence and to make a difference in the global coffee community. Four finalists were announced in each of the six categories, with CEC receiving the globally recognized "Coffee Excellence" award in the Originality in Design category.

The SCAA "Best New Product" awards were given to companies based upon the overall value of their preparation and serving equipment in enhancing the quality of specialty coffee and tea beverages in the commercial marketplace. All products considered for the award had to have been introduced into the marketplace within the 12-month period preceding the SCAA's 19th Annual Conference & Exhibition, and must not have been exhibited at any prior SCAA conferences. The 2007 SCAA award was given to CEC on Sunday, May 6 on the conference show floor in Long Beach, California.

Since its inception, CEC has dedicated itself to strengthening the specialty coffee industry. With a unique combination of French press and vacuum pot technologies, the CEC-developed Clover brewer brings unprecedented control to the brewing process, creating coffee with undeniable aroma and sensational flavor. More than 100 Clover brewers are now in use throughout North American and Europe. The new CloverNet system, which was announced earlier this month, will further change the way retailers brew and sell their specialty coffees with real-time production feedback from each connected Clover machine. CloverNet also stores a limitless number of coffee recipes, ensuring each specialty coffee is brewed for the proper time and at the proper temperature for maximum character and bouquet.
