The Cooper Institute Launches New Education Tracks

First in Fitness Education and Certification

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Sep 30, 2014) - The Cooper Institute® launches new educational programs to outline specific tracks for professionals in the health and fitness industry. The course curriculum, based on nearly 45 years of scientific research by The Cooper Institute, specializes in personal training and injury prevention for fitness center trainers, law enforcement organizations and the U.S. military. As one of the first to provide fitness education and certification, The Cooper Institute has trained thousands of men and women through courses on-site in Dallas, off-site worldwide and online.

"With research and science as the foundation for all education, The Cooper Institute employs internationally-recognized instructors and a one-of-a-kind training method to maximize students' comprehension of the connection between health and fitness," said Laura DeFina, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Cooper Institute. "Our mission is to investigate the power of prevention so we can inform, and inspire adults and children to take control of their health."

In addition to personal training, The Cooper Institute offers specialty training courses to expand students' knowledge about healthy living. Courses such as Nutrition for Health and Fitness, Coaching Healthy Behaviors, and Injury Prevention are open to everyone -- not just personal trainers. Adults, wellness program coordinators, law enforcement and military personnel, firefighters and first responders all make up the students of The Cooper Institute.

The Cooper Institute also trains law and military personnel around the country, to ensure their squads are fit for duty. While personalizing training for each group, they focus on conditioning and injury prevention to protect personnel and the agency's bottom line. From the Dallas Police Department to Homeland Security, the U.S. Navy to the U.S. Border Patrol, Cooper Institute instructors can be found around the globe in Alaska, Germany, S. Korea, Spain, Japan and many other places, providing vital training to first responders.

"Adult Education courses at The Cooper Institute combine knowledge and practical skills to train the trainers to become industry leaders," said Sue Beckham, PhD, Director of Adult Initiatives at The Cooper Institute. "Law and military courses at The Cooper Institute were built to military specifications. They continue to train new generations of leaders whose job it is to condition men and women so they can be safe and effective in their jobs to protect and serve America."

Today, The Cooper Institute provides licensed courses to universities to enhance their core curriculum. In addition, credits for continuing education can be earned for the American College of Sports Medicine and other organizations.
