19th Annual Tales & Tails Gala Features a Live Performance From Bruce Hornsby

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwired - August 04, 2015) - The Southeast Region of Canine Companions for Independence will host the 19th Annual Tales & Tails Gala on Saturday, October 10 at the Rosen Shingle Creek. Last year's event raised more than $285,000 to help Canine Companions place assistance dogs, free of charge, for people with disabilities.

The event includes an evening of music and storytelling to celebrate the unique connection between canines and their companions. Attendees will dine on regional-inspired cuisine and enjoy complimentary beer and wine, watch canine heroes demonstrate their extraordinary talents and hear an inspirational story of courage and triumph from a graduate with a hearing dog.

The event also features a live intimate concert by Grammy award-winning musician and storyteller, Bruce Hornsby. He will share stories and perform his award winning songs, such as "The Way It Is" and "Mandolin Rain."

WHY: The Southeast Region of Canine Companions for Independence opened on July 4, 2000. It has provided more than 320 assistance dogs for adults and children with disabilities and has more than 175 volunteer puppy raisers. CCI assistance dogs are provided free of charge, though costs to CCI exceed $50,000 to breed, raise train and provide ongoing support.
