The Friends of Library and Archives Canada Annual Giant Used Book Sale

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 12, 2005) - The Friends of Library and Archives Canada will hold this year's Annual Giant Used Book Sale at the St. Laurent Centre, 1200 St. Laurent Blvd., in Ottawa. The sale will take place on Friday, October 14, and Saturday, October 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Sunday, October 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This year, more than 25,000 books will be on sale, including bestsellers, children's books, cookbooks and biographies. Proceeds from the sale will enable The Friends of Library and Archives Canada to acquire rare and valuable archival and library materials. Over 105 volunteers worked close to 2,000 hours throughout the year to organize this event, one of the largest book sales in the Ottawa area.

The Friends of Library and Archives Canada is a national, non-profit organization whose mandate is to encourage public support for the work of Library and Archives Canada in preserving Canada's documentary heritage.
