The Fruit Company Announces 2013 Scholarship Award Recipients

HOOD RIVER, OR--(Marketwired - June 25, 2013) -   The Fruit Company, a third generation family-owned premium fruit gifting business, is proud to announce the recipients of its annual scholarship program for the Roy Webster Memorial Scholarship and The Fruit Company Gift Basket Entrepreneur Award: Jasher Grunau of Fork Union, Va. and Laurie Guysick of Akron, Ohio.

For the 2013-2014 academic school year, Grunau was awarded the Roy Webster Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 for his essay on how urbanization of rural farming communities has changed the political and socioeconomic landscape. Grunau, a high school graduate, plans to use the scholarship for engineering studies at Virginia Tech this fall. Guysick, the recipient of the new The Fruit Company Gift Basket Entrepreneur Award of $1,000, won the essay contest for her proposed solution to bridging the gap between traditional advertising and modern technology. A working mother and wife, Guysick has returned to school to finish a degree in business management.
