The Government of Canada Invests in Manitoba's Small Craft Harbours

MP Bezan announces $1.8 million to maintain and improve fishing harbours across the province


HNAUSA, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - June 26, 2014) - James Bezan, Member of Parliament for Selkirk-Interlake, on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing $1.8 million to support improvement projects at small craft harbours in Manitoba.

MP Bezan made the announcement at Hnausa Harbour, where a major repair project will soon be underway to replace the concrete approach to a timber pile wharf.

The improvements at Hnausa Harbour are part of the Government of Canada's investment of approximately $106 million in repair, construction, maintenance and dredging projects across Canada. This includes regular, annual funding and an additional $40 million over two years, as announced in Economic Action Plan 2014.
