The Government of Canada Supports La Cle d'la Baie en Huronie

PENETANGUISHENE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 7, 2009) - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Bruce Stanton, Member of Parliament (Simcoe North), today announced funding for La Cle d'la Baie en Huronie. This funding will help the organization put on a series of performances called La Vague francophone avec Franco-Simcoe.

"Our Government is ensuring the vitality of official-language minority communities by fully implementing the Roadmap for Canada's Linguistic Duality," said Minister Moore. "This is why we have chosen to support the artistic programming presented by La Cle d'la Baie en Huronie."

"I am very pleased that our Government is working with La Cle d'la Baie en Huronie to ensure that our Francophone communities are able to share and express their rich cultural heritage through these performances," said Mr. Stanton.

"La Cle d'la Baie en Huronie is pleased with the support of the Government of Canada, which allows us to offer Simcoe's Francophone community a variety of cultural performances," said Peter Hominuk, Director General of La Cle d'la Baie en Huronie. "This funding will provide Francophones in our community with access to quality French-language performances that they would not otherwise have a chance to experience."

La Cle d'la Baie en Huronie is a Francophone cultural association devoted to promoting the French language and culture and enhancing the cultural life of the minority Francophone community in Simcoe County.

The Government of Canada has provided funding of $17,000 through the Arts Presentation Canada Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians increased access to the diversity and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentation of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
