The Government of Canada Supports the Kincardine Summer Music Festival

KINCARDINE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 7, 2009) - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Ben Lobb, Member of Parliament (Huron-Bruce), today announced funding for the Kincardine Summer Music Festival, which will take place from August 1 to 15, 2009.

The Festival will present musical performances in a variety of genres, including jazz, blues, world music, and chamber and orchestral music, featuring performers from Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. It will also present a series of outreach activities including free concerts to get young people and community members involved in the arts.

"The Kincardine Summer Music Festival always hits the right note by presenting performances and activities that appeal to a wide audience," said Minister Moore. "Our Government is proud to support this festival, which plays an important role in strengthening the community and in benefiting the local economy."

"The Kincardine Summer Music Festival is a fantastic opportunity for musicians in the area," said Mr. Lobb. "This funding will also allow the Festival to continue to provide a unique learning experience for students, and I'm pleased that our Government is a part of it."

"Government of Canada funding will benefit the Kincardine Summer Music Festival by supporting the presentation of the professional musicians featured in the 2009 KSMF Concert Series," said John Schnarr, Programming Director and General Manager of the Kincardine Summer Music Festival. "The professional and culturally diverse artists showcased in these concerts are widely recognized by their peers and the audience as the finest musicians."

The Government of Canada has provided $23,000 through the Arts Presentation Canada program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians increased access to the diversity and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentation of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
