The Government of Canada Supports Tourism in Gaspe With Nova Lumina

The project will enhance the current tourism offering in order to encourage tourists to stay in the region longer

CHANDLER, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 19, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The city of Chandler, the Rocher-Percé RCM and Gaspésie will be able to maintain the assets and renew the tourism offering through the Nova Lumina project, which was officially launched in Chandler.

The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue, announced on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, that the Corporation de développement économique du territoire du Rocher-Percé (CDE) has been awarded a non-refundable contribution of $700,000 for implementing Nova Lumina.

Created under the CDE's initiative in partnership with Moment Factory, Nova Lumina will enable visitors to discover Gaspé's history in a new way, especially the Rocher-Percé region, with a 1.6-km illuminated night path that pairs multimedia and lighting designed to capture the imagination. This route links three tourist sites, namely the Circuit des bâtisseurs, the Parc du Bourg de Pabos and the Base de plein air Bellefeuille

The financial support was awarded under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP). Its purpose is to establish new recreational/tourist infrastructures that should help attract tourists from outside Quebec.
