The James Hotels Introduce Lil' James, a Kids Program, for Its Littlest Guests

Luxury Boutique Hotels Reinterpret the Classic Children's Program

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - August 06, 2013) -  The James Hotels are proud to introduce lil' james, a hotel amenity program for children, developed by the artistically inspired luxury boutique hotel brand for its littlest visitors. With properties in Chicago, New York and Miami's South Beach, each location delivers unique, intuitive children's activities and services, furthering The James family friendly hotel experience.

"We created the lil' james hotel program for families who want to spend time together while entertaining the lil' ones," said Lisa Zandee, Senior Vice President of Brand Management, Denihan Hospitality. "The James' anticipatory service extends to our youngest travelers in a fun and creative way."

The James Royal Palm, which opened in Miami on South Beach in November 2012, recently unveiled its lil' james Play Space, a dedicated indoor and outdoor area for child guests designed in partnership with Miami Children's Museum, filled with kid-friendly activities for inspired playtime including artist easels, activity tables and sand and water play stations, as well as complimentary healthy snacks and water. Parents can entertain children with an exclusively-created Lifeguard Station, reading nook, offering a library of children's books and brightly-colored bean bag chairs. In addition, the lil' james beach experience features a sandcastle building area and tables with umbrellas. Family beach boxes filled with refreshments including water, fresh fruit and sanitized hand wipes are also available.

Upon arrival at each property, lil' guests will be treated to a James welcome backpack filled with an activity crate from Kiwi Crate, the creativity company that delivers fun, hands-on, learning through arts, crafts and science kits. Projects from Kiwi Crate are complete with all the materials, instructions and inspiration for children and parents to create, discover and explore the arts, science, crafts and more. The James will provide access to the innovative service that traditionally delivers a different theme, such as Ocean Exploration, Colors, and Dinosaurs each month to subscribers' homes. The award-winning Kiwi Crate packages are designed so parents can spend quality time with kids without the stress of pre-planning or shopping for materials, a perfect travel activity.

"Similar to The James, we're inspired by a commitment to art and creativity," said Sandra Oh Lin, founder and CEO of Kiwi Crate. "So when they reached out to us about building a program that takes this inspiration and packages it into hands-on activities for their littlest guests, we were delighted by the opportunity. Our projects, which have been appreciated by families for their engagement and enrichment at home, now extend to travel."

In addition to the creativity-inspiring arts and crafts, the lil' james welcome amenity provides families with information on an array of inspired activities and services, as well as recommendations on unique ways to experience local culture as a family. Brochures for area cultural partners, such as children's museums, parks and bike paths, are also included.

'Inner City Artist' pouches, convenient and travel-friendly roll-ups containing crayons and a little coloring book, are available upon request at all properties. The environmentally thoughtful coloring kits are the creations of Urban Infant, a Chicago-based boutique specializing in planet-friendly baby and toddler accessories.

lil' james' dedicated food and beverage menus, available at David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago, Florida Cookery in Miami and David Burke Kitchen in New York, are tailored to satisfy a child's palette, with a portion of proceeds benefitting Common Threads. The James is proud to be the national hotel partner for Common Threads, supporting children in developing an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking, in addition to the importance of nutrition and physical well-being.
