The Linley Group Announces Inaugural Linley Tech Mobile Conference

Examines System Design Issues Driving Mobile Market

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - April 6, 2011) - With its first-ever conference focused on the mobile market, The Linley Group today announced the Linley Tech Mobile Conference will take place on April 19-20 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, Calif. The two-day, single-track event will examine system design issues for mobile devices such as tablet computers, smartphones, navigation devices, media players, handheld games, and e-book readers.

"Just two years ago, the tablet market was virtually non-existent, and smartphones were just beginning to gain adoption," said Linley Gwennap, principal analyst of The Linley Group. "Now, smartphone shipments have surpassed PCs, and there are dozens of tablet suppliers. With such dynamic market conditions, system designers need the latest information on the processors, IP and software trends that will drive the market going forward."

According to The Linley Group, the smartphone and tablet markets are attracting huge investments from large processor vendors seeking success in these markets. Competition among these vendors will fuel innovation and drive higher performance and new features into the hands of tablet and smartphone buyers. The Linley Tech Mobile Conference will examine these issues in depth.

The Linley Group will open the conference with an overview of the market, technologies, equipment-design, and silicon trends for designers of mobile devices. The remainder of the program will include talks and panel discussions covering a broad range of topics including application processing, mobile SoC design, image processing, wireless subsystem design, 3D graphics, multimedia processing, mobile security, and mobile system design.

Presenting companies include ARM, AuthenTec, Freescale, Kilopass, Marvell, MIPS, Movidius, Qualcomm, QuickLogic, Mocana, Sequans, Target Compiler and Tensilica. Also speaking are industry experts from BDTI, EEMBC and UBM TechInsights. Additional presentations will be provided by CEVA and SiliconBlue Technologies. Presentation highlights will include a Kilopass announcement of a new multi-time programmable memory technology and Freescale revealing details about its i.MX 6 GPU for the first time.

There will also be a reception with sponsor exhibits and demonstrations where attendees will have an opportunity to see and discuss specific products and technology.

The Linley Group offers free attendance to qualified registrants who sign up by April 14. For more information on the conference program and to register, please visit
