The Massachusetts Port Authority Selects Send Word Now® for Emergency Preparedness

Boston Logan Airport to Send Critical Messages During Emergencies via Send Word Now

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - November 30, 2010) - Send Word Now, the leading provider of on-demand alerting, response, and incident management services, announced today that The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has selected Send Word Now's alerting services following a competitive bidding process. Massport will use the notification system to rapidly communicate with critical stakeholders during emergencies and critical events at the Port Authority.

Boston Logan International Airport, Massport's primary operation, has six runways, 237 acres of apron, and 14.5 miles of taxiways as part of the airfield. The Airport is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As an enterprise in constant operation, the Airport must be able to immediately coordinate with its stakeholders, including Airport employees and various municipal, state, and federal agencies. Massport will use Send Word Now to reach these individuals and agencies via multiple devices for various events such as severe weather, aircraft issues, security issues, and local or regional events which will have a bearing on airport operations.

"Security and public safety are the primary concerns at Boston Logan Airport," said Joseph Reiter, Senior Project Manager at Massport.

"We are extremely proud to provide a tool that will help to ensure the safety and security of employees, visitors, and stakeholders of transportation hubs managed by the Massachusetts Port Authority," said Tony Schmitz, President and CEO of Send Word Now. He continued, "Send Word Now is quickly becoming the provider of choice for airports, airlines, and other companies in the transportation industry that want a best-in-class notification solution."

Massport is the latest addition to Send Word Now's growing airport customer base, which includes clients such as the Denver International Airport and the San Diego Regional Airport Authority.
