The Miller Family Stops Development of Center for Wellness and Recreation

LEWISBURG, PA--(Marketwired - Oct 2, 2014) - The Miller family, lifelong residents of Lewisburg and owners of locally based playground and fitness equipment manufacturer, Playworld Systems, Inc., today announced they will not move forward with the Miller Center for Wellness and Recreation as a result of select partners choosing not to commit to the project.

"It is with deep regret that the Wellness Center we envisioned will not move forward," said Matthew Miller, CEO of Lewisburg-based Playworld Systems, Inc. and father of four. "We were days away from a purchase and sales agreement to buy property in Penn House Commons situated on the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail when we received the unfortunate news. The partners originally supported our project in funding applications, but without their involvement we will not be able to meet the programming and funding goals to make the center a reality."

Since 2012, the Miller family along with a public coalition of partners were working to create a regional wellness center to better serve the community. The Miller family committed $2.5 million for the development of the center. To date, the family invested over $250,000 in the development of the plan, engaged a nationally renowned recreational consultant, and received the commitment of substantial funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
