The Montreal Alouettes/Training Camp: Day 4

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - June 1, 2005) - June 1st, 2005 - The Alouettes continued their training camp at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean today. Here's a look at Day 4, which was held outdoors:

Pratice cancellation

Head Coach Don Matthews cancelled the second practice today. "In a 12-day period, we are allowed 10 two-a-day practices and since the players did very well in the first session, I decided to give them a break and cancel the second practice," he said.

The kick is up...

Punters Damon Duval and Tim Duncan showed great punting abilities as they had the opportunity to demonstrate their talents today.

Defensive back Jerry Ntakrah, linebacker Tabugbo Anyansi (pronounced Tie-BOO-bo on-YON-zee) and defensive back Lamar Chapman were added to the roster.

The following players have been released: defensive tackle Teto Simpson, defensive back Terrence Carroll, defensive end Emmanuel Casseus and free safety Stephane Fortin. Receiver Jajuan Dawson also went home.

Banged up

Running back Eric Lapointe sustained a mild ankle sprain. Nothing serious.

According to Coach Matthews

"We are keeping our two-punch maximum policy in fights. The first two punches are free and then, players are fined $10 per punch."

The Alouettes will continue their regular schedule tomorrow. The first practice will begin at 8 a.m. with players available for interviews after the last practice. Please contact the communications department for confirmation on practice location.
