The Montreal Alouettes' Training Camp: Day 8

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU,QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - June 5, 2005) - The Alouettes continue training camp at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean. Here's a look at Day 8 of practice, which was held outside:

Afternoon practice

The day after Rookie Night, the Alouettes held a single afternoon practice that lasted a little over two hours.

Poor rookies

A few young players had to pay the price last night for the Rookie Show. Among them, guard Paul Archer came to practice today with a new hairdo.

Quality of the receivers

The quality of the receivers at the Alouettes' training camp is impressive. Maurice Brown and Adam Eckert both made outstanding grabs today.

Whitley impressive

In just his second practice, defensive back James Whitley had an interception.

Field goals

The kickers had the opportunity to practice field goals in game situations this afternoon. Damon Duval and lefty Tim Duncan remain the most impressive.

The president on the sidelines

Alouettes' President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Smith made an appearance on the sidelines today. He was impressed with the quality of the players that Jim Popp and his staff brought to training camp.

According to Coach Matthews

"Receivers Kerry Watkins and Tim Gilligan are having a great camp."

Last two-a-day tomorrow

The players were happy to learn that tomorrow will be the last two-practice day of training camp. Practices on Tuesday and Wednesday will start at 10 a.m. Please contact the communications department for confirmation of tomorrow's practice location.
