The Montreal Botanical Garden Launches Its Weekend Celebrations Series!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - June 8, 2006) - The Montreal Botanical Garden will be pulling out all the stops for its 75th anniversary, and partying all summer long! The Weekend Celebrations series will kick off on June 9, the official anniversary of the Garden's founding, with a great line-up of festive attractions. There will be special visitor activities, street performers, musicians and singers to keep things hopping. During this first weekend, the Garden even invites you to add to the festive atmosphere by sporting something flowery. And everyone who comes to join the fun on June 9, 10 and 11 will get 25% off the regular price of admission!

Come enjoy three days of musicians, singers, street
performers,workshops, face-painting and special guided
tours of the Anniversary Path.

Niwa no mai - Dancing in the Garden, 2:30 p.m. (60 min.)
Discover traditional Japanese and contemporary dance with
dancers and choreographers Heidi S. Durning (Fujima Kanso
o)of Kyoto and Lucie Gregoire of Montreal.

Turkish Culture Days, noon to 5 p.m.

15 and 16 CHINESE GARDEN 15 years
Oriental Music and Dance Festival, 1 and 2:30 p.m. (30
A veritable festival of Asian colours and rhythms featuring
the talents of Chinese, Indian and Japanese folk groups.

10 years!
22 and 23 TREE HOUSE
Find your Celtic Tree with the help of a Druid, 1:30 to
3:30 a p.m.

Listen to tales of the forest for the whole family, 3:30
p.m.(60 min.)
Taste spruce and birch beer from Breuvages Marco, 1 to 4

Weekend Celebrations series: August
5 and 6 FIRST NATIONS GARDEN 5 years!
Two great days of celebrations, including a concert by
Florent Vollant and friends on August 5, from 2 to 4 p.m.

12 and 13
Explore plants' beauties from a different angle, and "see"
them as a visually impaired person does by touring the
Courtyard of the Senses with a MIRA guide dog, 11 a.m. to 1

Come hear singing plants (plant instruments), 1:30, 2:45
and 4 p.m. (60 min.)

fascinating series of 24 anniversary panels may surprise you! It's
full of entertaining anecdotes and little-known facts. Here are 24

- Family Memories at the Botanical Garden, Tree House, until October

This touching exhibition looks at the Botanical Garden through the
lenses of visitors since 1931. It's a very personal tribute and a
delightful trip back in time.

- Happy Birthday, Garden!, Main Exhibition Greenhouse, June 9 to
September 4

A colourful and highly original floral exhibition highlighting the
Garden's development over the past 75 years.

Hours: Open daily from May 15 to October 31, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (until
9 p.m. during The Magic of Lanterns, from September 8 to October 31).

Admission: Including access to the exhibition greenhouses, outdoor
gardens and Insectarium: $12.75 for adults, $9.50 for students and
seniors, $6.50 for ages 5 to 17. Free for ages 4 and under. Discounts
for Acces Montreal cardholders.
