The Montreal Burlesque Festival Celebrates 5 Years of Artistic Sophistication

On December 6 and 7, the Montreal Burlesque Festival (MBF) will celebrate five years of teasing, titillating, and seducing our fair city with the curvaceous gyrations and often-shocking performances of the world's finest burlesque artists. For this grandiose occasion, the MBF will present a weekend extravaganza in three acts, beginning on Friday, December 6^th, with the appropriately entitled Gatsby Soirée.

Montreal's Gatsby will play out to the devilish rhythms of the roaring 20s' greatest hits, performed by the ACME Combo Jazz Band, who will provide a fitting soundtrack for a parade of favorite stars, including Kerosene Misfortune & Baron Sogo, Jezabelle Von Jane, L Diablo, Cherry Typhoon, and Cult of Yes.

Saturday will kick off with the fabulous Crystal Gala, an early-evening extravaganza loaded with seductive surprises and shows by fourteen international burlesque superstars, including Lady Josephine, Mr Gorgeous, Nicky Ninedoors and Scarlett Martini, to only name a few.

Following the Crystal Gala, those seeking more intense thrills will be treated to Burlesque Rock, a soirée that will expose the sexiest and most daring side of burlesque, to the beat of unstoppable rock classics, performed live by the notorious band Timmy Playzwell. This late-night spectacle will bring to the stage Trixie Little, Trixie Minx and Donna Denise among a who's who of burlesque royalty.

Each of the three galas will close with climatic glamorous numbers by Canada's countess of burlesque and founder of the Montreal Burlesque Festival and The Grand Burlesque Show, Scarlett James, returning to her hometown after a series of globetrotting adventures that have brought her artistry as far as Shanghai and Berlin. The irreverent, but always charming MC Benjamin Marquis will host all three soirées.
