The Movember Community Comes Together to Improve the Lives of Canadian Men

Funds Raised Go to Support Critical Men's Health Issues

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - December 01, 2015) - As men across the country get ready to part with their well-groomed moustaches, the Movember Foundation is proud to share that over 500,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas from around the world have raised an incredible $58 million for men's health, including over 73,500 Canadians raising nearly $14 million. Men's health is underfunded and there is a lot of work to be done. Movember needs Canadians' support so they can continue to work hard to find breakthrough solutions to improve the lives of men dealing with prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity. Funds will continue to come in over the coming weeks and into next year as Mo Bros and Mo Sistas wrap up their fundraising efforts. It's not too late to donate, visit Movember.com to show your support.

"It's so powerful to see our community embrace the moustache and our MOVE challenge," said Jesse Hayman, Director of Community Engagement, Movember Canada. "During the month of Movember, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas from Vancouver to St. John's have raised over $13.5 million. Thanks for helping us change the face of men's health, without you we wouldn't be able to fund breakthrough projects."

Every Mo Bro and Mo Sista is personally motivated to participate and we are touched by the stories that pour in from our community; "I love to Mo and bring awareness to men's mental health issues," said Kevin Rempel, Canadian sledge hockey player. "Depression and suicide have affected me and my family, and I find a purpose in life to share my story and help others see that there's so much to MO for! To me, being a part of Movember means being a part of a movement."

Mo Money in Action

The Movember Foundation has funded over 1,000 projects globally, with 230 projects right here in Canada. A few recent projects include:

Team Grant -- Dr. John Bell and his team from Ottawa Hospital Research Institute are working to develop a treatment of metastatic prostate cancer.

Kids Help Phone's Bro Talk -- A dedicated online support zone and referral service that provides teen guys aged 14 to 18 with somewhere to reach out to when times are tough.

Mind the Heart - Led by Université de Moncton this project is working to prevent, detect early and treat mood disorders, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress, among men living with heart disease.

Funds from the 2015 campaign will benefit men's health programs and projects across the country, working hard to find breakthrough solutions to improve the lives of men dealing with prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity. About the Movember Foundation

The Movember Foundation is a global charity raising funds and awareness for men's health. These funds deliver breakthrough research and support services to allow men to live happier, healthier, longer lives. Since 2003, millions have joined the men's health movement, raising more than $676 million and funding over 1,000 projects through impact investments, focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

The Foundation runs awareness and fundraising activities year-round, with the annual Movember campaign in November being globally recognized for its fun and innovative approach to raising money and getting men to take action for their health. During Movember, we challenge men to grow a moustache or to make a commitment to get active and MOVE, both of which are about real action for health and are done to spark conversation and raise vital funds and awareness. The Foundation's vision is to have an everlasting impact on the state of men's health. Movember is a registered charity in Canada -- BN 848215604 RR0001. For more information visit Movember.com.
