The New York Council on Problem Gambling Announces 2013 Annual Conference

NYCPG Annual Conference Brings Leading Experts on Problem Gambling to Albany on September 17-18, 2013


ALBANY, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 12, 2013) - The New York Council on Problem Gambling, a not-for-profit independent corporation dedicated to increasing public awareness about problem and compulsive gambling, announces their 2013 Annual Conference, taking place on September 17 and 18 at the Albany Marriott on Wolf Road.

The Council is very pleased to have Arlene González-Sánchez, Commissioner, New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and Robert Williams, Acting Executive Director, NYS Gaming Commission joining the conference this year to address the importance of a continued focus on problem and responsible gambling in New York State.

The two-day event will touch on a number of topics related to problem gambling awareness and recovery. Speakers will be visiting the Capital District from across the country to present the latest in addiction research. These professionals include mental health doctors, executive directors of prevention programs and researchers.

The hour-long presentations will cover a wide-range of subjects including how the human brain reacts to addiction, addiction recovery, how recovery has changed in the world of technology, how gambling has changed in the 21st century and more. The overall goal for the conference is to provide the most up-to-date research and educational resources for professionals working to help problem gamblers.
