The Options Industry Council Announces New Volatility Seminars

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - November 14, 2008) - The Options Industry Council (OIC) recently announced the addition of a volatility seminar to its fall schedule of live seminars for investors and financial advisors. OIC currently offers basic and intermediate options courses and, continuing with its commitment to investor education, will now offer seminars on volatility.

These free educational seminars are taught in a classroom-style arrangement by experienced instructors from the various options exchanges. Each seminar runs from 6-9 p.m. and registration is required.

The new volatility seminars will be held in New York on Tuesday, November 18; Wednesday, November 19 in Santa Ana, CA; and Thursday, November 20 in Detroit, MI.

In order to register and obtain detailed information on all of OIC's live seminars, visit http://www.optionseducation.org/seminars/default.jsp or call 1-888-OPTIONS (1-888-678-4667).

Course description:

OIC's Volatility seminar begins where the Basic and Intermediate seminars left off. The concept of volatility has a significant influence in the price behavior of any options position. In this seminar, an options professional will cut through the complexities of volatility by explaining what volatility really is -- and what volatility isn't -- and why it is a factor in an option's price. There will be an introduction to how volatility is measured and what that measurement means. Implied volatility and its impact will also be covered, which is fundamental for reducing any confusion with respect to changing options prices.

It is recommended that attendees have a solid understanding of option fundamentals, a firm comprehension of option pricing, familiarity with various option strategies, experience buying and selling options and a tolerance for some statistical mathematics -- just enough to solidify your understanding.
