The Paranormals Web Comic Proves to Be Effective Learning Tool

Middle School Curriculum Adopting Unique Education Program

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - August 29, 2007) - August 29, 2007 - Palo Alto, California middle school teacher Katie Schramm conducted classroom instruction with content from The Paranormals web comic and is rating the experience for her students as an effective, enjoyable education program that has enhanced student interest in reading.

Producing positive results, Katie is working with Bonus.com, (presently in Beta at http://beta.bonus.com), the Interactive Family Entertainment site, to develop lessons for her 6th grade students.

"Teachers are struggling today to keep children engaged in reading, and using content from a popular web comic such as The Paranormals sets the stage for an exciting and alternative way to educationally connect with kids," said Katie Schramm. "This program is only one part of our curriculum that we're developing to help kids learn to read more and better."

"We are thrilled to be associated with Katie and her students," said Ellie Deyneka, Co-Creator and Producer of The Paranormal series. "It is jaw dropping to hear what Katie has done with the web comic's content in the classroom. The lesson plans that we're developing are sure to be a hit with the kids."

The Paranormals web comic is set in a small town in Southern California named Cayce, where the strange and unusual has become the norm. A young girl named Rose Thornton moves into town with her dad, like most kids she's worried about fitting in, making friends, and homework. However, unlike most, she's hiding a major secret. Rose is a werewolf, but the funny thing is, in Cayce, she's not the strangest girl at school. She makes friends with a young Native American boy, Daniel, who is able to talk to animals; Preston, the neighborhood rich kid who is a whiz at computers; Persephone, a popular girl inhabited by the spirit of a bloodthirsty Egyptian Princess; and Thanh who is half vampire. Together these kids discover the mysteries of Cayce and why they have been placed together in a special homeroom in their normal high school. The Paranormals is an original web comic for tweens aged 9 through 13.
