Companion of the Order of Canada

Don Mazankowski's devotion and leadership have enriched our nation. Throughout his life as a businessman, parliamentarian and community leader, he has earned the admiration of citizens of diverse political affiliations for his integrity, courtesy and fair-mindedness. Since retiring from politics, he has continued to build on a legacy of service as chair of the Canadian Genetic Diseases Network, the Institute of Health Economics, and the Premier's Advisory Council on Health Care. Alberta's leading heart institute, which bears his name, as well as the Mazankowski Scholarship Foundation, which has awarded more than $1.5 million to students across the country, serve as testimony of his ongoing commitment.

This is a promotion within the Order.
