The Senators in Your Community From Dec. 8 to Dec. 14

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 8, 2006) - The Ottawa Senators' year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues this month. The following is a look at the club's community schedule from Friday, Dec. 8, to Thursday, Dec. 14.

Friday, Dec. 8 - Ottawa Senators visit CHEO, 2:30 p.m.

The Ottawa Senators will make their annual Christmas visit to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) on Friday, Dec. 8, at 2:30 p.m. The players will meet with patients, their families and the hospital staff to sign autographs.

Saturday, Dec. 9 - Third Annual Melnyk Family Skate for Kids, 10:30 a.m.

For the third consecutive year, Eugene Melnyk and his family will proudly host 100 children, as identified by Children and Youth Friendly Ottawa (CAYFO), to Scotiabank Place on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for various fun-filled activities.

Saturday, Dec. 9 - Toy Mountain toy drive, Scotiabank Place, 1 p.m.

The Ottawa Senators will participate in Toy Mountain, an annual campaign founded by CTV Ottawa and Majic 100 Radio through the Salvation Army. On Saturday, Dec. 9, the Senators will hold a toy drive at their game against the New York Rangers. Scotiabank Place patrons are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for childen up to 12 years old to the Senators' game, with the donations going to benefit less fortunate children this holiday season. Toys will be accepted at any entrance of the building. Gates at Scotiabank Place open at 1 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 8 to Sunday, Dec. 10 - 24hrs of Tremblant Ski-o-thon, Mont-Tremblant, Que.

From Dec. 8 to 10, Mont-Tremblant will hold the sixth annual 24hs of Tremblant Ski-o-thon. Close to 800 ski-o-thon participants will dash down the trails for 24 hours straight to raise $500,000 for charity. This year, the Ottawa Senators Foundation will be be one of the beneficiaries of this event. Money raised will go to support Roger's House, the charity of choice of the Ottawa Senators Foundation. Opening ceremonies for the event begin at 11:30 on Saturday, Dec. 9, and the closing ceremonies will take place at the base of the hill at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10.
