The Senators In Your Community From June 13 to June 20

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 13, 2008) - The Ottawa Senators' year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues this month. The following is a look at the club's community schedule from Friday, June 13, to Friday, June, 20.

Sens Foundation at Microsoft Golf Tournament for Autism

Sens Foundation president Dave Ready and Senators alumni Shaun Van Allen and Jim Kyte will participate in the Microsoft Golf Tournament for Autism on Monday, June 16, at the Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Sens Foundation and the NHL entry draft

The Sens Foundation will help get NHL draft week underway on Wednesday, June 18, with the Scotiabank Dinner Behind the Bench, presented by the Ottawa Citizen, at the Brookstreet Hotel. On the eve of the fifth anniversary of the death of former Senators assistant coach Roger Neilson, the National Hockey League Coaches' Association, the NHL and the Sens Foundation have joined forces to host the inaugural Scotiabank Dinner Behind the Bench. The sold-out event will raise funds in support of Roger's House. Senators president and CEO Roy Mlakar will be joined by COO Cyril Leeder and general manager Bryan Murray at the event. Dave Ready and Danielle Robison will also attend on behalf of the foundation.

Sparty visits Scotiabank Read to Succeed winning classes

Scotiabank Read to Succeed is a literacy initiative presented free of charge by the Ottawa Senators to assist elementary school teachers in motivating their students to read on a daily basis through incentives and rewards. Each month, registered classes that reach their reading goals are entered into a draw to win one of six Sparty parties, which includes a classroom visit from Sparty, pizza courtesy of Pizza Pizza and juice courtesy of Coca-Cola. Teachers interested in registering their classes for Scotiabank Read to Succeed or any other Sens@School program can do so by visiting the Senators website at

Next week, one lucky class will host a Sparty Party won through the Scotiabank Read to Succeed Program:
