The Senators In Your Community From March 7 to March 12

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 6, 2009) - The Ottawa Senators' year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club's community schedule from Friday, March 6, to Thursday, March 12.

Spartacat appearances

Spartacat, the Senators' ambassador of fun, will visit Zellers at Bayshore Shopping Centre (1000 Bayshore Drive, Ottawa) on Friday, March 6, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sparty will also be at the Kemptville Public School Read-a-thon (215 Reuben Crescent, Kemptville, Ont.) on Thursday, March 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


2009 Sport Business Symposium

Date: Wednesday, March 11

Location: Scotiabank Place, Gate 2, Coliseum rooms A and B

Time: 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Senators chief operating officer Cyril Leeder will join a panel of guests at the fourth annual Sport Business Symposium, which this year will focus on the economic crisis as it relates to Canadian sport. John Furlong, chief executive officer of the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and five-time Olympian Charmaine Crooks are also among the invitees. Included in the registration fee is a ticket to the Senators home game that evening against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Please visit www.algonquincollege.com/sports to register.

Minor hockey intermission activities

On Saturday, March 7, players from the Gatineau and Canterbury minor hockey associations will take part in the GM Breakaway Relay, an on-ice activity at Scotiabank Place, during the first intermission of the Senators home game against the Buffalo Sabres.

On Monday, March 9, players from the Aylmer and Kanata minor hockey associations will take part in the Bell Relay Race on ice at Scotiabank Place during the first intermission of the Senators home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

On Wednesday, March 11, players from the Blackburn Minor Hockey Association will take part in Timbits Hockey, an on-ice activity at Scotiabank Place during the first intermission of the Senators home game against Tampa Bay.


Sens Gameday Experience presented by Esso

Date: Saturday, March 7

Location: Scotiabank Place

Time: 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Fans and minor hockey teams from across the Ottawa-Gatineau area will visit Scotiabank Place and watch the Ottawa Senators pre-game skate. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to watch the Senators coaching staff puts the players through their paces in an assortment of high-energy drills while providing players the chance to work on their own individual skills.
