OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 16, 2007) - The Ottawa Senators' year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues this month. The following is a look at the club's community schedule from Friday, Nov. 16, to Saturday, Nov. 24

Sparty visits Scotiabank Read to Succeed winning classes

Scotiabank Read to Succeed is a literacy initiative presented free of charge by the Ottawa Senators to assist elementary school teachers in motivating their students to read on a daily basis through incentives and rewards. Each month, registered classes that reach their reading goals are entered into a draw to win one of six Sparty parties, which includes a classroom visit from Sparty, pizza courtesy of Pizza Pizza and juice courtesy of Coca-Cola. Teachers interested in registering their classes for Scotiabank Read to Succeed or any other Sens@School program can do so by visiting the Senators website at

This week two lucky classes will host a Sparty Party won through the Scotiabank Read to Succeed Program:

Tuesday, Nov. 20 (11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.)

Spartacat appearances

Saturday, Nov 17 (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.)

Sparty will take part in the grand opening of new the Shoppers Drug Mart at 680 Eagleson Rd. in Kanata.

Saturday, Nov 17 (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Spartacat will participate in the Help Santa Toy Parade, which runs from Ottawa City Hall to Lansdowne Park.

Sunday, Nov.18 (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

Sparty will be at the Bayshore Shopping Centre Santa Parade, which will take place inside the mall.

Saturday, Nov. 24 (12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.)

Sparty will appear at the Bayshore Shopping Centre location of Mrs. Tiggy Winkles.
