OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 9, 2007) - The Ottawa Senators' year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues this month. The following is a look at the club's community schedule from Friday, Nov. 9, to Thursday, Nov. 22

Ottawa Senators player appearance

Friday, Nov. 9 (6 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

Senators forward Brian McGrattan will be a guest at the practice of the Kanata Cyclones Peewee House A team. McGrattan will participate in the practic, while providing pointers and feedback to the players and coaches.

Sparty visits Scotiabank Read to Succeed winning classes!

Scotiabank Read to Succeed is a literacy initiative presented free of charge by the Ottawa Senators to assist elementary school teachers in motivating their students to read on a daily basis through incentives and rewards. Each month, registered classes that reach their reading goals are entered into a draw to win one of six Sparty parties, which includes a classroom visit from Sparty, pizza courtesy of Pizza Pizza and juice courtesy of Coca Cola. Teachers interested in registering their classes for Scotiabank Read to Succeed or any other Sens@School program can do so by visiting the Senators website at

This week two lucky classes will host a Sparty Party won through the Scotiabank Read to Succeed Program:

Tuesday, Nov. 13 (1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

Huntley Centennial Public School, 118 Langstaff Drive, Carp, Ont. Teacher: Carrie Ginn; 613-839-2020 Senators forward Brian McGrattan will be a guest vistor for the Sparty Party.

Wednesday Nov. 14 (11:30a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

Spartacat appearances

Saturday, Nov 17 (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.)

Sparty will take part in the grand opening of new the Shoppers Drug Mart location at 680 Eagleson Road in Kanata.

Saturday, Nov 17 (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Spartacat will participate in the Help Santa Toy Parade, which runs from Ottawa City Hall to Lansdowne Park.

Sunday, Nov.18 (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

Sparty will be at the Bayshore Shopping Centre Santa Parade, which will take place inside the mall.
