The SNIA Announces Its 2011 Board of Directors and Technical Council


DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - October 11, 2010) -  The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) is pleased to announce its 2011 Board of Directors and Technical Council during the Storage Networking World Fall 2010 conference being held in Dallas, Texas. SNIA's voting members elected the Board of Directors, and the Board elected their Executive Committee officers. Terms of these responsibilities were effective October 10, 2010. The SNIA Board is charged with oversight of the association's vision and mission and ensuring that tangible value accrues to member companies. 

"2011 will be another exciting year for the storage industry and I'm very pleased to continue leading with such an esteemed board and staff," said Wayne M. Adams, re-elected Chairman of the SNIA. "While our mission will be refined for our multi-year strategic planning, our near term approach and 2011 activities will continue to expand and evolve as we look to identify new ways to deliver educational programs, expand our technical leadership in areas such as Green IT, Cloud Computing, Solid State Storage, as well as to continue to strengthen our cross-industry alliances that benefit the global industry."

Also, just prior to the SNW Fall 2010 conference, the Association's voting members elected the 2011 SNIA Technical Council which in addition to appointees as of October 10 are responsible for providing guidance and direction on the varied technical activities of the SNIA. The Technical Council elected its Chairperson, Richelle Ahlvers of HP, and its Vice Chairman, Alan Yoder of NetApp.

Richelle Ahlvers, Chairperson of the SNIA Technical Council stated, "It is a personal honor and professional privilege to serve as Chairperson of the SNIA Technical Council for the next year. We will continue to build on the successful technical activities underway across all of our Technical Working Groups. The next year will certainly bring more technical innovation and we will work diligently to ensure that SNIA's technical activities lead the way with vendor-neutral insights and technology that help advance the industry."

The SNIA Technical Council is responsible for managing the development efforts of the Association and ensuring that they are on-track and on-target while looking for new opportunities like software development, cloud and green storage to expand the SNIA's efforts and provide additional value to the industry and customers. The Council works closely with the Board of Directors and other SNIA bodies in planning and executing technical activities, governs the Technical Working Groups, reviews and approves all SNIA architectures and standards, and serves as a technical resource for all SNIA activities, including its role as technical program committee for SNIA's standout Storage Developer Conference.
