The "Street of Dreams" Features New Trends in Manufactured Homes

ONTARIO, CA--(Marketwire - April 16, 2008) - Manufactured homes have received an extreme makeover in design, energy efficiency and construction. The latest designs and innovations in manufactured housing will be showcased at the "Street of Dreams" exhibit during the So Cal Builder Expo scheduled for May 1-4, 2008 at the Ontario Convention Center.

"When people think of a manufactured home, they often visualize an old trailer," said Jess Maxcy, president of the California Manufacturing Housing Institute. "Today's manufactured home is luxurious, spacious and often shares the same traits of homes built on-site."

The "Street of Dreams" is a mini-neighborhood of six different architectural-style homes and two vacation homes that are fully furnished and landscaped. Interior décor features include granite counters, tile floors, energy-efficient appliances and state-of-the art technology. Exterior features can include stucco or wood siding and roofs of tile or composition shingle that are visually appealing for both single and two-story homes.

For the eco-conscious home seeker, manufactured homes also have green living advantages. Homes are now available with a standard energy-efficient package of heating and cooling equipment, high-performance windows, superior insulation and low-emission paint.

The quality requirements for manufactured homes are far more precise than traditional homes. "Manufactured homes are a high-value alternative to homes built on-site. They can be customized to fit any budget and lifestyle," added Maxcy.

Seven home builders and members of the California Manufacturing House Institute will participate in the "Street of Dreams," including Cavco Industries of Phoenix, Ariz.; Champion Home Builders of Lindsay, Calif.; Fleetwood Homes of Riverside, Calif.; Golden West Homes of Albany, Or.; Golden West Homes/Oakwood in Perris, Calif.; Laurel Creek Homes of Phoenix, Ariz.; Silvercrest/Western Homes Corp. of Corona, Calif.; and Skyline Homes of San Jacinto, Calif.
