The Super Cities WALK for MS: Enjoy one morning, help cure MS!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - April 4, 2006) - The Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is inviting you to take part in the 12th edition of the Super Cities WALK for MS, which will be held in 19 cities across the province. Join thousand of walkers in Montreal West Island, Chaudière-Appalaches, Drummondville, Gatineau, Laval, Sainte-Catherine (Montérégie), Montreal, Repentigny, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Jérôme, Thérèse-De Blainville and Trois-Rivières, on April 30; in Alma, Baie-Comeau, Chicoutimi and Sept-Iles, on June 4; and Quebec City, Sherbrooke and Sorel-Tracy, on September 10.

The Super Cities WALK for MS offers 5-km and 10-km routes, all of which are wheelchair-accessible, and provides refreshments at the rest stops, a light lunch and entertainment at the finishing line, as well as numerous prizes.

The goal of the 2006 edition is to raise $1,100,000 and attract more than 7,000 participants. Last year, the Super Cities WALK finally broke the million dollar barrier! More than 6,000 walkers raised $1,023,000 for research and services for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and their families. MS is the most widespread neurological disease among young adults in Canada. It most often strikes people between 15 and 40 years old. The causes of this disease, and its cure, are still unknown. Some 50,000 Canadians, including 12,000 Quebecers, have MS. Every day, 3 Canadians learn they have MS and every year, some 50 children are diagnosed with MS.

Pharmaprix, the title sponsor of the event is affiliated with the Super Cities WALK for the third consecutive year. People can buy the MS Band of Hope for $2 at every Pharmaprix store.
