The Terrace at Trump Expands, Season Begins May 18, 2011

Sophisticated Outdoor Oasis is Its Largest Yet, Featuring a Polynesian Chic Theme for the Summer Months

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - April 7, 2011) - Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago is pleased to announce that The Terrace at Trump, the downtown hotel's sophisticated outdoor dining venue, will open Wednesday, May 18, at 2:30 p.m. The chic, 16th floor outdoor oasis -- which has become one of the city's most sought-after destinations since opening in 2009 -- showcases a dramatic vista of the Chicago skyline as well a picturesque view of Lake Michigan, along with the Chicago River and its famous bridges.

This season, The Terrace at Trump will grow significantly to encompass the entirety of the property's 16th floor outdoor space. Accommodating up to 164 seated guests (60 more than in 2010), the venue will also feature a summer 2011 theme embracing a worldwide trend that has yet to make its mark on the Midwest: Polynesian chic. This theme will influence all aspects of The Terrace at Trump -- from the décor and staff uniforms to the food and beverage program, expertly created by Executive Chef Frank Brunacci, Executive Pastry Chef Sarah Kosikowski, and Beverage Director Rachael Lowe.

Upon arrival, guests will be escorted to The Terrace at Trump via the Bridges Room, one of the  hotel's intimate dining spaces. Upon setting foot outdoors, they will be met with a luxurious, serene atmosphere, accented by a contemporary décor scheme that includes beautifully placed up-lighting, water elements, lush foliage, torches, and touches of bamboo weaved into the custom-designed furniture throughout the outdoor area. Comfortable lounge, booth, and table seating -- designed by Alex Morales of Smartmouth Designs -- will create an intimate environment to accommodate a range of party sizes. Guests will also enjoy lounge music that fuses South Pacific beats with notes of Latin and American jazz, as well as live DJ performances taking place up to twice per week.

This year, The Octagon -- an eight-sided table that seats up to 10 guests with prime views -- will be available for reservations. Bookings for this VIP table cost $1,800, exclusive of tax and gratuity, and include one magnum of Dom Perignon, one of The Terrace's specialty punchbowls, one extravagant seafood platter, and dedicated attention from a personal server.

The Terrace at Trump staff will be outfitted in stylish uniforms ideal for the chic outdoor environment. Designed by Chicago designer Nicholas Joseph, the uniforms for male staff members feature blue gingham short-sleeve dress shirts with dark gray trousers, while the women don stunning V-neck dresses with a fitted bodice, pencil skirt, and subtle floral embroidery on the lapel. Jewelry designer Lauren Elan created custom-designed necklaces for female staff members, which feature hand-cut, painted wood strands, bright crystal beads, and a gold tone chain closure.

With the Chicago River in their direct sightline, guests will also appreciate a first-hand view of Chicago's summer fireworks displays from Navy Pier, taking place every Wednesday and Saturday evening from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Chefs Brunacci and Kosikowski have developed a special menu that celebrates Chinese, Polynesian, and American fare, which will be served outdoors on The Terrace at Trump, as well as inside the Bridges Room. Designed to be shared amongst a group or enjoyed individually, some of this year's savory offerings include Seafood Platters ($90-450) with jumbo cocktail shrimp, west and east coast oysters, Alaskan crab claws, and fresh steamed lobster tails; Family-Style Curries ($42-90) for groups of two to four people, including Thai green curry with shellfish and  Chef Frank's chicken goan curry; Signature Maki Rolls ($26-28); and Individual Plates ($18-25), ranging from daily tostadas with tomatillo hot sauce and mango-glazed pork belly sliders to tuna, wakame, and ginger ceviche and a fried coconut salad with sesame ginger dressing, among others.

Seasonal desserts created by Executive Pastry Chef Sarah Kosikowski will provide a sweet finish to the experience, with selections ($10 each) including Mai tai push pops with layers of housemade mai tai sorbet and a guava gelee; Milk chocolate frozen bananas served with a 10 Cane Rum pina colada chilled "fondue;" and Ginger macadamia nut floats with macadamia caramel ice cream, topped with Goose Island Spicy Ginger Soda; among others.

The summer 2011 cocktail program showcases an array of exotic cocktails, aptly named Divine Nectars, as well as punchbowls that speak to a revival of communal dining and sharing. All are created with freshly squeezed tropical fruit juices, housemade syrups, international rums, and a variety of craft spirits -- all ideal for Chicago's hot summer months.
