The tranSMART Foundation Launches Corporate Sponsorship Program for 2016

OPKO's GeneDx and Rancho BioSciences Sign as 2016 Platinum Sponsors

WAKEFIELD, MA--(Marketwired - Apr 6, 2016) - Bio-IT World Conference & Expo 2016 (Booth #228) -- The tranSMART Foundation, a non-profit organization providing a global, open-source knowledge management platform for scientists to share pre-competitive translational research data, today announced the launch of its Corporate Sponsorship Program and the signing of GeneDx (a business unit of OPKO Health, Inc.) and Rancho BioSciences as 2016 Platinum Corporate Sponsors. The new program offers organizations increased visibility within the tranSMART community and provides the necessary funding for the Foundation to host a variety of events throughout the year.

"This sponsorship program is a win-win for both the Foundation and sponsoring organizations," said Rudy Potenzone, VP of marketing for the tranSMART Foundation. "We've had numerous organizations express interest in getting more visibility within our translational medicine community and the financial support enables us to offer higher quality programs that provide both educational and networking opportunities for data scientists and technologists."

"We are pleased to be able to support the work the tranSMART Foundation is doing to advance precision medicine by providing a platform where researchers can share genomic, clinical and pre-clinical data to help drive new drug innovation," said Joseph F. Donahue, Senior Vice President, BioReference Laboratories and GeneDx.

"As the first commercial laboratory to offer clinical next generation sequencing, it is an honor to work with the tranSMART Foundation and help researchers in industry and in medical institutions advance science," added Gregory S. Henderson, MD, Ph.D., President, BioReference Laboratories and GeneDx. "We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future."

"Rancho BioSciences is a big supporter of using tranSMART to store and analyze clinical and genomic data and we are happy to continue being a part of the tranSMART Foundation," said Julie Bryant, CEO of Rancho BioSciences. "We are happy to be a platinum sponsor, a silver member and big time volunteers of the Foundation."

In 2016, the tranSMART Foundation is hosting or participating in several meetings, including the Molecular Medicine Tri-Conference in San Francisco in early March, Bio-IT World Conference & Expo April 5-7 in Boston, tranSMART - i2b2 Symposium at Harvard University June 21-23, and the tranSMART Foundation Annual Meeting at the University of California at San Diego in October.

As part of the Corporate Sponsorship Program, organizations will be recognized as sponsors at all tranSMART events throughout the year at a single discounted rate. Sponsors will receive pre-event, on-site and post-event promotional opportunities, as well as discounted membership rates. Additional benefits are offered based on the level of sponsorship (i.e. Platinum or Silver). Individual sponsorships for these events will continue to be offered, including meal and break sponsorships.
