The VA Seeks Ophthalmology Physician for Its Minneapolis Medical Center

Services to Be Provided On-Site to Veterans


MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - December 17, 2015) - The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN (MVAHCS), located at One Veterans Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417, has issued a presolicitation notice for a board-certified Ophthalmology physician to provide services on-site to beneficiaries of the VA and the MVAHCS.

The VA will award a firm, fixed price, commercial services contract that will be limited to the MVAHCS. Service is slated to begin February 1, 2016 and end January 31, 2017.

The NAICS code assigned to this procurement will be 621111 with a size standard of $11 million.

The VA stipulates that the MVAHCS has one of the busiest Ophthalmology Services departments in the VA System. The MVAHCS recently remodeled and expanded its Ophthalmology Department, and it plans to staff 50,000 ophthalmology clinic visits annually and have upward of 1,400 ophthalmologists with expertise in corneal/anterior segment surgeries provide an estimated total of up to 80 hours of service per week. The contracted Ophthalmology physician must staff the Center's outpatient clinic, perform surgical procedures, and provide consultative services.
