The Virtual High School Now Offering Full-Time Online Program

High School Students Worldwide Can Now Take VHS' Online Courses to Help Earn Their Diploma

MAYNARD, MA--(Marketwired - October 09, 2013) - The Virtual High School (, nonprofit pioneer of K-12 online learning, today announced the offering of a full-time online program for students who need or want an alternative to the traditional classroom. For the first time, students can take a full-course load through The Virtual High School (VHS) in partnership with their school to earn their diploma. Classes are conducted entirely online, providing anywhere, anytime access for students with work or other obligations.

Unlike other full-time online programs, VHS' offering consists of collaborative courses taught by highly-qualified, certified teachers that inspire, ignite and deepen learning. In addition, VHS works with, rather than in opposition to private or public schools so as to keep education and funds in the hands of educators. Programs of study and VHS courses are selected by the school's guidance department, and diplomas are granted by the school.

VHS' mission is to provide students with access to high-quality online and blended learning experiences, while supporting educators with the professional development and services they need to provide an effective 21st century education to every student. VHS partner schools have access to over 190 core, elective, and AP® courses that inspire, ignite and deepen learning as well as enable students to develop independent learning skills, explore college majors and careers, earn credits and participate in global classrooms. Courses are taught by highly qualified teachers who are specially trained in online teaching best practices, and are certified in their subject areas.

"Over the last few years, schools have lost a tremendous number of students and funds to online programs," said Jeffrey A. Elliott, President & CEO of VHS. "Our program enables schools to retain their students and still provide a flexible, quality option. A traditional, in-person education no longer works for all students therefore, it's imperative that educators and schools provide alternative options to help kids today achieve their goals."
